Viral Vada Pav Recipe

Viral and tasty vada paav for an evening snack or the star dish of a house party that you host! Try this recipe and experience the taste of street food at the comfort of your home!

 


Ingredients:

  • 6-7 boiled potatoes
  • 4-5 green chillies
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • ½ tablespoon mustard
  • ½ tablespoon jeera
  • ½ tablespoon oil
  • ½ tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 bowl besan
  • ¼ tablespoon soda

For chutney:

  • Coriander leaves
  • Mint leaves
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 2-3 green chilli 
  • ½ tablespoon jeera
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • ½ a lemon squeezed
  • Water as required

For red chilli powder:


Instructions:

    1. Prepare the chutney: In a mixer, take coriander leaves, mint leaves, 2-3 garlic cloves, 2-3 green chilli, ½ tablespoon jeera, ½ tablespoon salt, ½ a lemon squeezed and water as required and grind it thoroughly. Set the chutney aside.
  •  Prepare garlic chilli paste: Add 4-5 green chillies, ½ tablespoon salt and 2-3 garlic cloves and grind it coarsely to a paste.
      1. Make the potato stuffing: In a pan, add ½ tablespoon oil, ½ tablespoon mustard, ½ tablespoon jeera, the prepared garlic chilli paste and saute it well. To this, add ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder and the boiled & mashed potato and ½ tablespoon salt and combine well. Let this cool for sometime.
  • Prepare the coating mixture: Take 1 bowl of besan and mix it with ¼ tablespoon turmeric powder, ½ tablespoon salt and ¼ tablespoon soda and mix it.  Add water as required and mix this until you get a loose consistency. Make sure the consistency is not too loose.
  • Prepare the potato balls: Roll the potato mixture in medium sized balls. Dip it in the coating mixture and fry it until it turns medium golden brown. Set the balls aside. Fry some coating mixture in the oil separately to small bhoondis. 
  • Make the red chilli powder: In a mixture, add 1 tablespoon grated coconut, 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds, ½ cup peanuts, 2-3 garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon Bhoj Masale Kashmiri red chili powder, 2 dry red chilli, salt as per taste and the besan bhoondis grind it coarsely.
  • Construct the vada paav: Apply the prepared green chutney to a pav, and on top of it add the red chilli powder prepared. Place the fried potato balls and close the paav.
    1. Voila! The famous and viral vada pav is ready to be enjoyed!

    Tips:

    • Adding soda to the dip mixture helps in making the coating fluffier and crispier.
