A quick tea time snack that goes very well with a cup of piping hot tea. This recipe is a delightful cross of Indian sweet meeting western confectionaries and an irresistible one at that!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- A pinch of saffron (Kesar)
- ¼ cup oil
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon rasmalai essence
- 1 ¼ cup maida
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ tablespoon baking soda
- ½ tablespoon cardamom powder
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Dry fruits of choice
- Bhoj Masale chai masala
Instructions:
- Ready the base: Take 1 cup milk and mix a pinch of saffron and mix it well. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Make the essence: In a small bowl,take ¼ cup oil, ½ cup powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon rasmalai essence and mix well.To this, add 1 ¼ cup maida,1 tablespoon baking powder, ½ tablespoon baking soda and ½ tablespoon cardamom powder and combine everything together.
- The teatime rasmalai cake goes well with a glass of piping hot tea made from Bhoj Masale chai masala.
Tips:
- Adding saffron to the milk base instead of just using plain milk can help in enhancing and capturing the other flavours better.
