The Rajasthani panchmel dal, as the name suggests is a delightful mix of five dals cooked together, a burst of desi flavours that cannot be resisted.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal
- 1 cup masoor dal
- ½ cup channa dal
- ½ cup urad dal
- ½ cup moong dal
- ¼ tablespoon turmeric powder
- A sprinkle of Bhoj Masale hing powder
- Salt to taste
For tadka:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- A sprinkle of Bhoj Masale hing powder
- ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale premium whole jeera
- 1 green chilli
- 1 onion
- 1-2 tomatoes
- Salt to taste
For garnishing:
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon dry fenugreek (Kasuri methi)
Instructions:
- Cook the dal: Wash the dal (1 cup toor dal, 1 cup masoor dal, ½ cup channa dal, ½ cup urad dal and ½ cup moong dal) thoroughly. After washing, add all the dal in a cooker with water as required, ¼ tablespoon turmeric powder, a sprinkle of Bhoj Masale hing powder and salt to taste and cook until the dal is mashed well.
- Plate the dal along with any food of your choice and enjoy!
Tips:
- Soaking the dal for at least 1-2 hours helps in cooking the dal better and quicker.
