Mumbai Style Tawa Pulao Recipe

Mumbai style tawa pulao recipe for the taste of mumbai itself which is simply a burst of flavours and masala which is sure to get one addicted to the taste!

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup basmati rice
  • ½ tablespoon turmeric powder
  • ½ tablespoon oil
  • 4 dry red chillies 
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 cabbage
  • 1 capsicum
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • ½ tablespoon jeera
  • ½ bowl peas
  • 1 boiled potato

For Seasoning:

  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • ½ tablespoon kashmiri red chilli 
  • ½ tablespoon garam masala
  • ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale pav bhaji masala

For garnishing:

  • 4-5 cashews
  • ½ lemon
  • Coriander leaves

Instructions:

    1. Wash and cook the rice: Take ½ cup of rice in a bowl and wash it thoroughly. After washing, pour some water, ½ tablespoon salt,  ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder and ½ tablespoon of oil and cook it.
    2. Make the chilli paste: In a small bowl, take 4 dry red chillies and 4 cloves of garlic and add some water to it and let it soak for a few minutes. After soaking it, add some oil to it and mix it thoroughly in a mixer and set the paste aside.
  • Prepare the seasoning: Heat some oil in a pan and to it add ½ tablespoon of butter, ½ tablespoon jeera and 1 onion chopped and saute well. Once the onion become transparent add the chill paste prepared and mix well. Now, add 1 cabbage, 1 capsicum, 1 carrot, ½ bowl peas and  1 boiled potato all chopped and mix well.
  • Add the masala: Add ½ tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, ½ tablespoon kashmiri red chilli, ½ tablespoon garam masala and ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale pav bhaji masala and water as required and give it a good mix.
  • Mix all the ingredients: Add the rice to this mixture and combine well.
  • Garnish: Garnish the rice with few cashews, coriander leaves and squeeze half a lemon on top. 
    1. Mumbai style tawa pulao is ready to be served and enjoyed!

    Tips:

    • Basmati rice tastes better for this recipe.
    • Add onions before the other vegetables since onions take more time to cook.
