Masala Mattar Paneer Recipe

Flavourful and tasty masala mattar paneer simplified for a quick cooking session to enjoy along with a bowl of rice or few rotis for a cozy dinner time. 

 

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cups oil
  • ½ bowl of diced paneer
  • 1 tablespoon jeera
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 3-4 green chillies slit 
  • 1 cup fresh peas
  • Salt as per taste

Seasoning:


Instructions:

    1. Fry the paneer: Fry ½ bowl of diced paneer in ¼ cup of oil and set it aside.
    2. Prepare the tomato paste: In the same pan you fried the paneer, add 1 tablespoon jeera, 2 bay leaves, 4 tomatoes and 3-4 green chillies slit and saute well. Once cool, add (except the bay leaves)  it to a mixer and make a fine paste.
  • Prepare the seasoning: In a pan, heat 2-3 small cubes of butter and to ot add ½ tablespoon jeera and saute well. In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon garam masala, 1 tablespoon Bhoj Masale Kashmiri red chili powder, ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale coriander powder and a sprinkle of Bhoj Masale kasuri methi and mix well with some oil.
  • Bring the ingredients together: Add the masala mixture to the pan with sauteed jeera and to this add the tomato paste made earlier and mix well. Cook well until the oil separates.
  • Add the peas and paneer: Now add 1 cup fresh peas and adjust water accordingly. Add salt as per taste and cook well until it gets soft. Add the fried paneer and mix well. Cover and cook in medium flame for 5-8 minutes. 
  • Garnish: Grate some paneer on the top (optional) and plate it!
  • Tips:

    • Do not grind the bay leaf along with the ingredients as it will make the taste bitter.
    • Grating some paneer at the end as garnish will give a rich taste.
