Gluten free Jowar Pulao Recipe

A healthy and quick recipe for a lip smacking meal. Try this Jowar pulao which is gluten-free, healthy but nevertheless tasty!




  • 1 bowl Jowar
  • ½ tablespoon mustard seeds
  • ½ tablespoon cumin
  • 1 Onion 
  • 2 green chillies
  • ½ bowl beans
  • ¼ bowl cauliflower
  • ½ bowl carrot
  • ½ tablespoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ bowl peas
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder
  • ½ lemon
  • Salt to taste 


    1. Cook the Jowar: Take one bowl of Jowar in a cooker and water equally and salt as required and cook it for 1-2 steams. After it is cooked, strain the jowar and set it aside.
    2. Cook the vegetables: Heat some oil in a pan and add ½ tablespoon mustard seeds, ½ tablespoon cumin, 1 onion chopped, 2 green chillies cut, ½ bowl beans, ¼ bowl cauliflower and ½ bowl carrot and mix thoroughly. After cooking it for some time, add ½ tablespoon turmeric powder and ¼ bowl peas. Add some water and bring all the ingredients together. Now, add 1 ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder to this and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the Jowar: After cooking the vegetables add the steamed jowar and mix well.
  • Garnish: Squeeze half a lemon over the cooked jowar pulao and plate it!
  • Tips:

    • Use a strainer to remove the excess water from jowar after steaming.
