This soulful preparation of the dhaba style dal tadka is sure to fascinate you with the aroma and the burst of flavour with every bite!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal
- 1 cup orange masoor dal
- 1 cup channa dal
- 1 cup split urad dal
- ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder
- 2-3 green chillies
- Small piece of ginger
- Water as required
- Salt as per taste
For tadka:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- ½ tablespoon jeera
- 3-4 cloves of garlic
- 1 onion
- ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Bhoj Masale Kashmiri red chili powder
- ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale coriander powder
- 1 tomato
- 2 green chillies
- Salt as per taste
- ¼ cup water
For tempering:
- ½ tablespoon oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- ½ tablespoon jeera
- Coriander leaves
Instructions:
- Prepare the dall: Add 1 cup toor dal, 1 cup orange masoor dal, 1 cup channa dal and 1 cup split urad dal in a bowl and give it a good mix. Wash it thoroughly with clean water.Cook the dal in a cooker by adding ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder, 2-3 green chillies slit and Small piece of ginger. Add salt as per taste and water and cook the daal in low to medium flame until mashed.
- Prepare the tadka: Heat some oil in a pan and add 1 tablespoon oil, ½ tablespoon jeera, 3-4 cloves of garlic minced, and 1 onion cut up and saute it well. To this, add ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon Bhoj Masale Kashmiri red chili powder, ½ tablespoon Bhoj Masale coriander powder, 1 tomato chopped and 2 green chillies slit and saute again. Add some water to give it a good consistency and mix well.
- Add the dal: Once the tomato is mashed well, add the cooked dal to this and mix thoroughly. Adjust the consistency with water.
- Give the dal a finishing touch by adding cut up coriander leaves on the top and the dhaba style dal tadka is ready to be enjoyed!
Tips:
- Add at least 2-3 mixes of dal varieties for better taste.
